Best way to get data on who's viewing what in Confluence?

Hello,

I'm looking for a cost-effective way to collect data on which users are viewing what in Confluence. The audit logs leave something to be desired, and the Premium plan is not cost-effective for us (at all).

I'm curious what others are using. The primary use cases are from a space owner perspective, gathering insights on which pages are active/popular vs dead... and security, wanting user-specific data, to audit folks recently terminated etc.

We found this -- but wanted to hear other good ideas too :)

@Andrew Boeger we used the Google Analytics plugin for a while until we upgraded to Premium and grabbed the full power of the Insight Analytics package. It was good, but not great. It did not give us the granular data on user based activity and really only told us stories about individual pages.

@Andy GladstoneDid Confluence Premium give you granular data on user-based activity? As opposed to space-/page-based?

Absolutely. You can see user contributions, edits, views on Space and Page levels with the Insight Analytics.

Thank you. If anyone else has any thoughts, I'd appreciate it. Confluence Premium doubles our cost and adds $7k/yr to the expense for pretty much just these use cases... can't justify that at this time.

@Andrew Boeger have you seen the other Premium features?

There is a compelling reason to upgrade (if it is in your budget).

Hello @Andrew Boeger ,

Take a look at the different apps on this topic listed in the Marketplace for Confluence Cloud https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?hosting=cloud&product=confluence&query=analytics

As one of the app vendors, I am biased. But allow me to say that for Viewtracker we recently released a first version of the Content & Usage Report for Cloud. According to your use case, you can see which content is being viewed and updated, newly added or just "dead". This can be done across the whole Confluence instance or per Space.
We are continuously expanding this report and will soon also cover the use case of your security.

But I would recommend you to also check out the other apps in the Marketplace and just give them a try. You can test all apps for 30 days for free.

Kind regards

Mattia
