×Hello!
I'm using confluence cloud and for some reason it is not possible to add comments on a an image file that is embedded on a page. The function itself is not being displayed in the image preview.
It does not matter whats the image type, I've testet either jpg and also png files. The image is being displayed in the browser and the only option i can chose from is to download the file to my local computer. But there is no option to comment the image:
Comments for PDF files instead are working fine.
Do i need to change something in the configuration for the space or entirely in confluence to enable that image comments? Or is this a bug/unintended behaviour? Or is it me and i don't see what i may do wrong?
Thanks for help!
@Chris van Daele This is bit odd but have you tried,

Thanks for your reply! But this does not work for the following reasons:
1) First of all, in the daily workflow it isn't a good option to first list all attachments and select the specific one *only* by name. I don't know what is different now, but in the past was used to it to just click on the file directly in the page itself. Like it is currently already working with PDF files. When i image some clients, who are not that familar with confluence selecting the image in the attachments lists is not an option unfortunately.
2) Even when i try your suggested solution, it is not possible for me to add a comment. When i place the pin on the image, i only see a loading spinner on the right and it is not possbile to enter a text.
So either it is a bug or it is a misconfiguration in our confluence instance.

Short update:
I can confirm that is related to the new editor. When i use the old editor the image preview looks like expected (Version control at the top left, Comments Icon on the top right). It is also possible to add a new comment without any problems.
If you need futher informations, please let me know.

Hello @Chris van Daele,
Thank you for bringing this up and for confirming that you are using the new editor.
I discovered a similar behavior was reported in the request below.
The ability to comment on individual files isn't yet available for the new editor. In the meantime, you can still comment on attachments of pages that are using the Legacy editor template.
If your Cloud site does not have the Legacy editor template, you can have your site admin log a ticket with our Cloud Support team and we can get that reactivated for you.
Thanks again, and take care.
Shannon

Over a year later and this still isn't fixed? Atlassian really messed things up with the new editor....
