Does export space delete the space?

I haven't found anything to indicate that this would be the case. However, we're getting a space from a vendor to add to our own instance and they are worried about losing the info from their space. Does the export feature simply create a copy that we can add to our instance? Or, does it remove it from one instance to be moved to another?

It only makes a copy.
