How can I sum CAD transaction values directly inside a table in Confluence?

Hi everyone, I'm new to the Community 😊

I have a list of transactions (in CAD – Canadian Dollars) that I’d like to manage directly inside Confluence without having to rely on Excel or Google Sheets. Is there a way to import this data into a table and automatically calculate the total amount (and maybe other aggregations like averages) directly on the page? I’d love to keep everything inside Confluence if possible.

If you’re looking to manage your CAD transactions directly inside Confluence without jumping in and out of Excel or Google Sheets, you might want to try the Simple Table with Body macro (from our app Simple Tables for Confluence).

With it you can:

• Add your table from Confluence

• Display your CAD values in a column

• And automatically calculate the total sum (plus average, min, max, count…) using built-in footer aggregations — all without leaving the page

Being able to stay on a regular Confluence page and still get automatic totals is ideal for how we work. Also, thank you for taking the time to record and share the Loom. That example makes everything much clearer and is incredibly helpful. Really appreciate it!

We can also suggest trying the app that we develop - Table Filter, Charts & Spreadsheets for Confluence.

You'll be able to set a total row (sum, min, max, average, etc.) using the Table Filter macro: https://docs.stiltsoft.com/tfac/cloud/calculations-in-tables-42239860.html#Calculationsintables-OutputtheTotalrow

And if you prefer Excel-style while working with your data, you may take the Table Spreadsheet macro that is also provided with the app.

To answer your question --> If you would like to use already installed app in Confluence

• You can use /table spreadsheet macro to upload a file and display its content as an excel on that same page, which you can edit & save on the page itself --> Table spreadsheet

Firstly—welcome to the Community! 👋

Regarding the question > while Confluence native tables do not support aggregations, you could maybe use Confluence Databases, which is also native Confluence functionality (a bit different than a page itself).

Anyway, databases support sums and averages for number columns (+ number columns can be set as currencies, although the Canadian Dollar is not yet supported).

Additionally, once you create a database, you could embed the view in the Confluence page to get a table-like representation.

Databases definitely look powerful, but I was hoping to keep things a bit more lightweight (ideally just a simple table directly on a Confluence page, without having to create a database object first).

My goal is to import a list of CAD entries, display them in a table on the page itself and have the sum of the Amount column calculated automatically right there — a bit like how you’d use =SUM() in Excel. Thanks again!

Yeah—for that, you'd probably need to use some Marketplace app as, natively, this is not supported. 😕

One additional solution/workaround could be embedding Excel directly to Confluence if you have those stored somewhere on the cloud > see example here (steps are the same for Excel or Google files).
