Unfortunately the Attlasian Companion does not work for me. I can start to edit my ppt & save it, but then the update window loads foever and I cannot update to the new version. I tried all common browsers. In the picture you can see where I am stuck.

This issue you're facing means that Confluence is able to successfully connect to Atlassian Companion, but Companion is unable to send the file to Confluence's Media API. Do you have any restrictions on your network which would be blocking this request? (Note, the domain is "https://api.media.atlassian.com")
To troubleshoot this issue, we will need to look at the Companion log file, which can be accessed by right clicking the Companion tray icon -> View Logs. You can enable extra logging by navigating to the Companion install directory and opening modifying companionConfig.json to set logLevel: debug.
Companion config directory for MSI install:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Atlassian Companion/resources/companionConfig.json
EXE install:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\atlassian-desktop-companion/app-version/resources/companionConfig.json
You will need to reproduce the issue with the extra logging enabled, and then I would advise raising a support ticket with this information. https://support.atlassian.com/
