Just a heads up: On March 24, 2025, starting at 4:30pm CDT / 19:30 UTC, the site will be undergoing scheduled maintenance for a few hours. During this time, the site might be unavailable for a short while. Thanks for your patience.
×Especially since Confluence got extensively recoded and now pasting large chunks of content between old and new Confluence instances strips out most or all of the formatting? I do not see any feature to choose among options like "paste with original formatting", "merge formatting", or "use destination styles". Can you tell me where that Easter egg is hidden in the trendy "blindfolded cloudiness" style of GUI? Important to productivity. Thanks
Hello @elsevier_instance_0042 ! Productivity is always of utmost importance in a work environment. As I understand, the current discrepancy between Legacy Editor (tinyMCE) and our New Editor (Fabric) is affecting the efficiency with which you can copy and paste content from one into another.
As you have noticed yourself, there are differences between Legacy and New editors and how each of them deals with content. Since this is true, not all content is compatible between them, which is why you might see differences when you copy from Legacy into New. As of today, not every feature present in our Legacy Editor is present in the New Editor. You can check the Roadmap for the New Editor here:
There is also the possibility of Converting Legacy Editor Pages into the New Editor format:
However, if deemed necessary, you can still use our Legacy Editor within your instance. There is no foreseeable removal of this editor from Cloud. It should be available for you to be used still. If it is not, you have ways of requesting it as explained here:
The editor will not be the default one, but Confluence users will be able to select it right before creating a new page.
Let me hear from you. Looking forward to your reply!
