So I'm using JSM with confluence as the KB. due to the skinning we use, the uploaded files come through as broken pictures which looks rubbish.
I found I can copy the public links to the downloads and use text as the hyperlink to them.
This works even after I've removed the content from the confluence page.
Which is ideal for what I want,
But I'm expecting these to stop working at some point.
Either due to a clean-up process or a time limit.
Anyone know how this works ?
In short, after deleting attachments from a confluence page, how long do the links to the same content work for ?
@Robert Nichols If I understand you correctly, you are linking to the file attached to the Confluence page, rather than linking to the Confluence page itself. On the plus side, if someone updates the attachment, you will automatically get the new image in JSM.
I believe that your links are still working because, although the content has been removed from the Confluence page, the file you have linked to is still attached to the page.
I would think that deleting the attachment from the page would mean that your link would no longer work. You can test this with a single file to make sure.
I guess the question then is whether you still want the image if the person writing the Confluence page feels it's no longer needed. If you truly want to keep the file, I believe you could upload it to the JSM page instead of the Confluence page (I'm not a JSM person, so I'm not sure if you can do this).
In confluence I'm using the image icon to insert a zip file.
In default JSM this works okay, but with the skin I use it doesn't look good.
Hence I take the public link to the attachment (which is embedded in the page) and add some text and point it to the same link.
So I'm pointing to the file attachment itself.
which is odd that it still works but its what I need.
