Hi,
We want to publish an interal WIKI for our company.
And use Public link for it.
The porblem is, we added the live search bar in the public link, but it seems un-functional unless log in to Confluence which is not our purpose.
Hey FEI,
The issue you're experiencing is expected behavior: the Live Search macro does not function for anonymous users on public links in Confluence. Public links are designed to provide a secure, view-only version of a page, and most macros (including Live Search) are not supported for anonymous/public visitors. Only a small set of macros (like Status, Table of Contents, Info, Tip, Note, Warning, Code Block, Expand, Excerpt, Roadmap Planner, and Anchor) are viewable on public links. All other macros, including Live Search, will not work unless the user is logged in.
Summary of key points:
Public links are view-only and restrict most macros for anonymous users.
The Live Search macro requires authentication and will not work for public/anonymous visitors.
There is currently no workaround to enable search functionality for anonymous users via the Live Search macro on public links 1.
If you need search functionality for your public wiki, you may need to consider alternative solutions, such as:
Creating a custom static site with search capabilities.
Using a third-party documentation platform that supports anonymous search.
Requesting this feature from Atlassian via their feedback channels.
Let me know if you need more details or help exploring alternative approaches!
Regards,
Tanya
