Hi,

Would like to setup automated or scheduled backups for Confluence (Jira too for that matter), just can't seem to find this in settings, even when logging with our other admin access accounts. Can you please let me know what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks

Hello @Paul Erickson ,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!!

You can generate manual backup by going to

  1. Go to  > General Configuration > Backup & Restore
  2. Choose Also to save a copy to the backups directory to store a copy of the backup in the same folder as Confluence's backups
If you do not archive the backup, it will be made available for you to download, and then deleted from the server after 24 hours.
  3. Choose Include attachments to include attachments in your backup.
  4. Choose Export

Out of the box automated or scheduled backup of Jira and Confluence is not available at the moment, however there are various plugins available on Atlassian Marketplace

and as alternative method i found one article on Automate online site-backups for Jira and Confluence without programming

I hope this information helps you!!

Regards,
Mayur

Thank you @Mayur Jadhav

Welcome! to the Atlassian Community @Paul Erickson

Unfortunately there is no automated or scheduled backup option available, you would have to build something custom. If you want to build your own system and maintain it, I can provide you with a pointer to scripts to help you backup the data. Keep in mind backing up data is relatively easy compared to restoring the data back. Check this post out

You can read more about the various options at hand here

The Revyz app addresses multiple use cases for Jira administrators - Automating Backups and having the ability to restore back data in a granular manner is just one of the use cases. I am happy to walk you through in more detail if you are interested.

We do have Confluence too on our roadmap, we plan to get our confluence app later this year once Atlassian publishes a new set of API's.

Thank you

Hello! @Paul Erickson @Mayur Jadhav

Unfortunately, there are no automated Confluence backups.

In this post by the Atlassian team "How to recover Confluence data if content is deleted and what backups Atlassian are responsible for." they recommend using a third-party applications like Rewind.

Rewind provides automated backups and restores for Confluence, Jira, Jira Service Management and Jira Work Management. If you're using GitHub or Bitbucket, we're also covering it.

Depending on your needs, we are compliant with SOC2 and have audit-ready solution. If you are just exploring or you are from a small organization, we have a free plan as well.
