Hey in the new confluence editor (2023), i cannot change the total width of the tables as well as add tables in the Expand macro. Is there a way around this?

Hi @katharina.klaus

Welcome to the Community!

This simple need is not supported in Confluence Cloud I'm afraid... You can find some tricky workarounds here.

If you're looking for a more robust solution, you'll have to turn to the Marketplace.

I can suggest you the app Elements Spreadsheet, available both on Confluence Cloud and on-premise since 2015. It's very simple to use, you can change the column and table width as you please, import Excel spreadsheets and work on them directly in Confluence. You can do all the basic stuff Excel allows you to do.

Another cool thing is the ability to make your own custom templates to match your company's look and feel.

If you need a demo or need to discuss your use case in greater details, feel free to book a time slot in my calendar, I'll be happy to help!

I hope this helps!

PS: I am the Product Manager of the app

Hi @Katharina_Klaus,

We can also suggest trying our app – Table Filter and Charts for Confluence.

If we are talking about manually created native Confluence tables, you’ll be able to use pagination and freeze first N rows/columns with the help of the Table Filter macro. The Table Transformer macro will help you to set the specific column width. Thus, your big tables will look neat and become easy to read.

If you prefer to work with tables using Excel-like functionality, you may try our Table Spreadsheet macro.

We’ll be also happy to arrange a live demo for you and your team – please book a suitable time slot here.

You Should be able to put a table inside an expand macro. However adjusting the table width is an issue with Confluence cloud for a while.

You cannot put sections inside a macro so your options of editing the table size are limited.

If you are familiar with markups, you might be able to use them. But I feel its too convoluted a way to achieve this. https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/insert-confluence-wiki-markup/
