How do we remove G Suite as our authentication but keep all 300+ users mapped to their previous ones

David Minch July 24, 2019

We currently have G Suite setup as our authentication but want to remove it. Our testing indicates that once we do, users will have to be re-invited to the application and we will lose our mapping of new users to old issues etc.

Is there anyway to remove G Suite and switch to Atlasssian authentication without losing the mapping? I have researched this thoroughly and cannot find a definitive answer on it.

Hi David,

It is true that if you remove the G Suite integration you will lose the synchronization of users. However, the existing users will not be lost. Please see the how to disconnect section of this documentation article:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/enable-or-disable-g-suite-integration-873918510.html

The mapping of users to issues (fields like reporter, assignee etc.) is done per Atlassian Account ID. The Atlassian Account ID is a string of characters that is unique per user and is mapped to the email address.

Basically, if your users have the same email address after the disconnection, they will have the same Atlassian Account ID and everything will remain mapped.
