My team no longer sees the "Edit File" option with the attachments macro

I see in this article that the companion app is being removed as of today and it says you can no longer edit files with that: https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/edit-an-attached-file/

However, I am seeing no option to Edit File anywhere else either.

Does this mean that documents in the attachments app cannot be edited any more?  If that's the case, why - because it would be extremely disappointing to have to download, edit, save, and then reupload!

Hoping I'm just missing something!

Hi @David Paterson  I too noticed this change and inquired, the Short answer sounds like this was an intentional retirement of the companion tool that allowed us to edit files. heres a link to my similar question, and the link to the support page to reference the provided answer.
