We have created a Confluence page that we share with customers using External Share for Confluence. The page contains some 20 attachments (pdf files) that are all listed on the page and clickable from within Confluence. However, when a customer logs in to the external page generated by External Share some of the attachments are not clickable - just shown as plain text but in the correct location on the page.
It is possible to "reactivate" such an attachment by deleting it in Confluence and then uploading it again. However, for each re-uploaded attachment another of the attachments shown by External Share becomes un-clickable. So any advice on getting round this problem is greatly appreciated.
@Rolf Johansson Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Can you confirm that the unclickable attachments are on that page? If you have attachments that reside elsewhere in the space or on other pages linked on the shared page they will not be available on the shared link because the person does not have permission to them. You need to make sure that the attachment is uploaded to the page which is being shared.
Just wanted to say - WoW! and thanks!
In most cases this is the right answer.
I would never dream about a day when someone I never meet would have such deep knowledge about product I helped to create.
Stay cool! (and do not forget to stay warm!)

Hi Brant! I can confirm that all documents (pdf files) are attached to one and the same Confluence page, actually the only one we have. All documents are visible and clickable on the Confluence page for us who are logged in with our Atlassian accounts, but on the shared page, accessed over a separate url and password, some of the listed documents (i.e. attachments) are not clickable/possibel to open - they are just listed there in black.
My thinking is that the Confluence page is correct but that there is some problem with the External Share macro that is causing this effect. If I delete and then re-attach a non-clickable file to the Confluence page, it becomes clickable on the external page - but at the same time another of the attachments becomes unclickable (!). Right now it seems that always the five oldest attachments made are unclickable on the external page - a real nuisance.
The attachments are listed on the Confluence page by the "Content by label" function, i.e. each attachment is given a label which places it in a particular "Content by label" field on the page. The "un-clicking effect" on the shared page occurs for all the "Content by label" fields used, and seems only to be dependent on which are the five oldest made attachments.
