Blog doesn't work anymore

Enikő Rozsnyói July 12, 2018 edited

Hello,

we have a link to the blog on our Confluence home page which stopped working from one day to another. To me everything looks okay and according to the documentation, but the blog is still not visible (page not found).

Documentation: <confluence-url>/pages/viewrecentblogposts.action?key=<spaceKey>

Non-functioning link: https://vdigital.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/viewrecentblogposts.action?key=EU

Best regards,

Eniko

We are using Confluence Cloud.

We are already using the macro but it is not sufficient. We want to display the most recent blog posts and then link back to older by year or month. The macro does not support this.

It is disappointing that we can no longer use viewrecentblogposts.action to display posts.  We can use /blog/ but that just redirects us to the latest post with the sidebar containing the huge list of blog posts (going back indefinitely).

Hi Eniko,

I’m not sure if you previously had your instance on Server version of Confluence, but the documentation you linked is for blogs in Confluence Server, as opposed to Cloud. The URL you're trying to access for your blog can only be used in Confluence Server. The two versions of Confluence are different, so certain URLs may work in one, but not the other.

To load your blog from the EU space, here’s the URL you’d want to try:

If you visit that URL, are you able to load the page?

Please let me know if you’re unable to load the page from that URL.

Best,

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

thank you for your answer.

I tried your link, it is only showing our last blog entry instead of all blog entries. What is the URL to list all blog entries? I didn't find the relevant documentation for this.

Hi @Enikő Rozsnyói

Further to the details provided by @R. Fuerst, the link provided will direct you to the latest blog in that space. You can view the page tree in the sidebar to see the list of blogs in that space.

Alternatively you can use the Blog Macro to create a page the has a list of mutliple blogs from N number of spaces as required - this may be the one you want to try out.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the clarification. Please let me emphasise what my problem is.

1. The link we used previously with viewrecentblogposts.action used to function on Confluence Cloud. It stopped functioning. It wasn't the same as the Blog Macro, becuase the page created with viewrecentblogposts.action categorises the blog post in months. Now it is just a long list of blog posts with the Blog Macro without any categorisation. Is there a solution for this?

2. I have been searching, but i cannot see the blog posts in the page tree. Confluence documentation says the following: "Blog posts are slightly different in that they're not a template. They function just like pages, but instead of living in the page tree, they live in the blog roll where they're organised chronologically, and are ideal for sharing news and updates."

Is there any other way to see ALL blogposts on one page than the Blog Macro?

Best,

Eniko

Hi @Enikő Rozsnyói,

You are correct that you won’t find blog posts in a page tree. Instead, you’ll see a “Blog” option in the space navigator, above the page tree.

When you click on "Blog", it will take you to a page that has a full list of the blog posts for that space. If you continue to scroll down, you’ll see all blog posts in order of date. We call this the “blog roll.”

If you’re looking to have a page with links to each blog post, I suggest creating a page and inserting the Blog Macro. This would be the only way to get all your blog posts on a single page.

You should be able to select the *Sort By* option in the Blog Post macro to sort by title, created date, and the date modified.

As an alternative, you could try searching for a Confluence Cloud add-on that might do what you’re looking for, but based on a general search, I wasn’t able to find one.

Sorry I can’t provide more workarounds!

Hope it helps,

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

thank you for your help. I finally found the "blog roll". I will solve my problem with the blog macro.
