Hey all,
We have a Glossary add-on in Confluence that is good enough. It automatically identifies and highlights Terms from the Glossary and provides information upon hovering.
I'd like the Glossary capability to crossover to JIRA tickets, so engineers don't need to leave JIRA when reviewing a ticket there.
The Glossary add-on doesn't support my proposed feature, so I need to potentially do this on my own. Is it possible?
THX!
Hi @eilon_elphi and welcome to the community,
I don't think that's possible in Jira, but since I don't know your requirements, my suggestion with you is to build your own app (if you don't want to search for another app in the marketplace). You can use Forge to do that. Can you provide a link of the confluence app you are using, just to get a quick view of what you want to accomplish?
@Alex Koxaras _Relational_ Thank you for your response and for welcoming me into the community!
Using "Smart Terms for Confluence - Glossary" which works super nicely, but only on Confluence: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1219677/smart-terms-for-confluence-glossary?tab=overview&hosting=cloud
I'd like those features to cross over to JIRA. So I was wondering whether we can build an internal backend solution that will transfer the feature from Confluence into JIRA, while managing the Glossary solely in Confluence in the purchased App.
Can I use Forge for such a solution?
in other words, can i build an app that is an add-on to another app?

@eilon_elphi you could try build something similar, but I can't be sure that it will work 100% like the one for Confluence. Jira & Confluence are different products and function differently. Forge has capabilities of building apps very easy, but in your case you would have to go with custom UI and not the UI Kit that Forge provides out of the box.
In order for you app to communicate with the other app, the other app should provide endpoints to work with. Can't really be sure about the result.

@Alex Koxaras _Relational_ Thx. I'll have to ping the App provider and ask them what is the easiest path for me to cross-use their functionality in JIRA, if I need to implement something on our end with their endpoints.
I was hoping that we could build some sort of a Macro in JIRA that will talk to the glossary App from Confluence, maybe that could be done once the endpoints are provided.
