How to access Confluence Approvals tool?

Good morning. 

The space admin has sent a request to gain access to the Approvals Tool. However, he is not sure where the request goes - and it has now been a few weeks?

Please could you confirm which Approval tool are you referring to? Also, when you say your Space Admin has sent a request to gain access, do you mean they have requested to install the app on your Confluence?

It was Approvals for Confluence by Appfox.

Possibly it was a request to install rather than a request to gain access. I am not overly familiar with Confluence but my colleague described seeing the tool as an option to install from within Confluence. And there being a button to click to request it.

This sounds most like a request to install the Approvals app which would have been sent to your Confluence site admin for their approval. I have found this guide by Atlassian that details the steps your site admin needs to go through to review the request and then install the app on Confluence.

Yes, that sounds like the process. Can I check one more aspect that is confusing me? Are site administrators the same as space administrators? 

I can find a list of our administrators but it is in a section called 'Manage space' - and I wasn't sure if there is a distinction between the two?

Great question! They are not quite the same. Site/system administrators will be responsible for managing your entire Confluence site (including all spaces), whereas Space admins will only manage the space(s) they have been assigned to. 

As you would expect, site/system admins have more controls available to them including the ability to review and approval Marketplace app installations.
