Hi,

I'm looking for a way to integrate Confluence with Slack, such that any updates or comments made to pages will appear in a specific Slack channel. What would be the best way to go about accomplishing this?

Thanks!

Hi there, great news!!! We now have a free Confluence Cloud <> Slack integration (built by Atlassian) available for your team to use.

Please visit https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1219518/confluence-cloud-for-slack?hosting=cloud&tab=overview for more details. Looking forward to hearing feedback from you.

Hey, question - is there a way to use this integration to receive notifications from new questions being posted in the Questions for Confluence rather than a page? I'm not seeing any of the settings mentioned in the documentation in that section of the space?

Hi Jessie, this functionality is not there yet. Please feel free to provide in-product feedback using /confluence feedback slack command.

Hi Shreshth, Are Atlassian working the free Confluence Server <> Slack integration?

Hi Cian,

Currently we don't have a free Confluence Server <> Slack integration. It is only available through third party vendors.

@shreshth -- with the new slack app, can I SEARCH confluence? Thats the most requested feature from my team.

E.G. the conversation in slack is:

Q> Where is the information?

A> In Confluence...

...and then the person has to actually navigate to confluence in their browser to search rather than being able to search directly from Slack.

@Noel Howell We just added this feature. Try /confluence help command in Slack channel for the instruction ;)

Do we have a similar solution for customers using Confluence Server?

Hi there,

thank you for your answer.

This is a sad piece of news for Server version users who relied on the integrations with Hipchat.

Any plans when this functionalities will be brought back to the Server versions of Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket - in the same/similar way they were present for Hipchat?

As @Nikola Stjeljasaid, HipChat is retiring soon. More effort from Atlassian should be done to replace the integrations from JIRA/Confluence/Bitbucket/etc to Slack ASAP.

Your decision to retire HipChat and force us to Slack should not make us buy third party addons to have the same features as before.

Hi @Ludia Administrator. Thanks for your comment. We have Bitbucket Cloud for Slack and Jira Cloud for Slack integrations. They're completely free, so you can start using them.

Wish Atlassian would support Confluence server in the same respect. I don't understand why integrations like these are not made to work with both. Doesn't it use the REST api?

Those of us running server due to specific needs (branding, wider range of add-ons, sso that doesn't cost us an arm and a leg,) are 2nd class citizens to Atlassian these days. It's not as if our licensing and ongoing support costs are any less than cloud customers. In fact, we pay more considering we must run our own infrastructure. Very sad.

I wish this support would be extended to Confluence Server. There is a trends towards Atlassian only building integration for the cloud products. Can't the REST api be used in both cases?

Bottom line is that Server customers now feel like 2nd class citizens. It's not as if we pay less for Atlassian products, actually, far more considering we manage our own infrastructure. Either kill the server products altogether or fully support them. Recognize that your customers have specific needs for running server based products, like branding, more flexibility in customization, a richer set of add-ons, etc. and support us comparably.

What would be cool is updating a Knowledge Base in Confluence from within Slack... Then we can have people ask questions and post both the question and its replies to Confluence.

This is the type of integration I'm after from Confluence / Slack. To automatically post certain messages and their threads into a Confluence space to aid building up a Knowledge Base. I can then leverage the 'live search' facility in Confluence to surface the results.

I came here to ask this as well – I'm a developer so I'd be happy to work on it but it's not clear that it's actually possible as Confluence only seems to work with apps in the official atlassian marketplace.

Is there a way to subscribe to a Tag in Confluence? e.g. I want to tag important pages in confluence as "announcements," and have that automatically push into a corresponding slack channel.

I tried creating a "stream" page using a widget, but because the page itself doesn't update (the widget does) no update is pushed to Slack.

Gosh, is there a way to do this with a webhook, like there is with Jira?

Hi All,

Our Slack Connector add-on will support Confluence very soon. We should start working on this in next two weeks. This will be the Cloud-only version however.

Hi Adrian,

Just wondering why it will be a Cloud Only connector?

Thanks,

Rick

Hi Rick,

We built our add-on using Atlassian Connect Framework which, at the moment, supports only Cloud products. Building a Cloud add-on is more like building a web application where we maintain all the backend infrastructure on our own. Server add-ons however are more like desktop application with completely different approach (and technology used). Therefore, there is no easy way to "port" already existing Cloud add-on into Server and that's why we don't have plans of doing so at this point.

We'll let you know if anything change regarding this.

Cheers,

Dave Albert

I would like to have this feature as well.

It's possible with JIRA, it should be possible with Confluence.

Hi,

I understand there is a possibility of notifications coming into slack if a page is crested, comment made etc. However can I integrate in such a way that whatver I am discussing in slack automatically gets posted on confluence?

Łukasz February 9, 2018

How would you imagine it? Like a history of all messages from Slack? What would be a purpose for that?

Fowler

@Łukasz Rżanek1, I think what he's talking about, and what I'm looking for, is link previews, which are extremely common in Slack. Paste any public URL into a slack message and you'll get a rich preview (if enabled)

I'd love to see the page title, first line of content, and number of comments and likes on the page when pasting confluence link.

Atlassian already does it for Jira issues (see https://slack.atlassian.com) - giving me hope they'll do something for Confluence

@Fowler So, in short, you would like the page's links from your Confluence instance to be unfurled (that's the term they use for that) on your Slack channels when pasted there?

Fowler
Contributor
February 28, 2018

Yep - link unfurling is the main thing I’m looking for. Notifications are great but can overwhelm a channel, rich previews are far more important to me and my team

Stephen February 21, 2020

Nope I want to collaborate on a confluence page via a slack channel. So I link a slack channel to a confluence page and everytime I post a msg on that slack channel it appears either as appended text to the confluence page body or as a comment. It is my choice whether it appears in confluence as a page append or comment.

Please implement this feature next for the confluence slack integration :)

Hi

We develop a plugin for JIRA Cloud (JIrassimo notifications for JIRA), that does this sort of the integration for JIRA (between JIRA and Slack, among the other channels/messengers)

I would start with https://developer.atlassian.com/static/connect/docs/latest/modules/common/webhook.html

It has the event you are looking for, so it should be possible to implement it as a plugin
