I would like to wonder.
Why the app that I use is the first in search results at the marketplace when I search it by a specific word, but when I search it in Google by the same word, a totally different app's listing is shown in the results? And moreover, the listing is shown along with search results of the Atlassian docs by this word. Why is that? Do the vendors pay for this word to be shown along with your docs related to the word? For example. I insert the word 'table' in the marketplace and find the app that I use in the first place, but when I put the word 'table Confluence' in Google I see another app along with Confluence docs search result.
Hi @Fabian Lim and @Irina_Bel_Stiltsoft_ !
The reason different results come up is because Google uses their own algorithm to rank search results. Within the Marketplace, we use a site search tool that has a different indexing logic to account for factors only relevant to our Marketplace.
Apps that rank high in Google search results, if they aren't an ad (see attached image for an example of a paid search ad) are likely employing SEO best practices to ensure their listings are optimized for Google. You can find more information about SEO best practices in the Partner Portal.
@Maggie Norby Adams Thank you a lot for the great answer. Btw, is the information about searching algorithms on the Marketplace only for your internal use?

No problem, @Irina_Bel_Stiltsoft_ ! We actually have documentation on the on-marketplace search results and rankings on the developer portal and on the Partner Portal.
For Google's algorithm, we actually published new guidelines on the Partner Portal just last week :)
