I am creating a new project space (w/ meeting notes pages) based on brainstorming and planning captured in another space. I am using copy and paste to move portions of meeting notes from the old space into my new space/meeting notes page. Once I have chunk of notes in the new Page, confluence won't allow me to add any action items within that text. If I add Action Item via the checkbox icon, it goes to the bottom of the page on a new line. Keyboard shortcuts don't work either. Even if I create a new line within the pasted text and start typing @User Item //date, it will insert the user and date but it doesn't log it as an actual action item.
This is a huge hassle as I would like to use the structure from my old meetings to create multiple tasks lists. Typing them from scratch will be a major undertaking and other posts on here tell me that I can't create the action items in the source doc and just copy and paste them with the text either. Help please!
Hello Mallee,
Thank you for raising this on Atlassian Community. Happy to help!
I understand you're looking to create new meeting notes pages while copying and pasting content from past meeting notes, and the tasks macro isn't working as expected.
Can you tell me if the old and new meeting notes pages are on the new or legacy editor? To see how you can tell which editor a page uses, see convert pages to the new editor.
Can you also confirm if you're using the Meeting Notes template when you create the new pages? Is it possible for you to share a screenshot example of the behavior?
If you continue to have any trouble, I recommend raising the issue with your Confluence site admin so they can raise a support ticket with us.
Take care,
Shannon
The old meeting notes were written with the legacy editor, the new page is using the new editor.
In the new space, I am creating new pages and not using the template (the old notes did not use the template).
Here is a screen shot of an example. Although this *appears* to be a task - all it is actually doing is inserting a user name, and then I am inserting a date - but it does not recognize or transform the string "@user Issue //Date" into a Task in the system.
Additionally, shortcut [] to create a task does not work when I am working within text I copied/pasted from previous pages.
Thank you!

It may be worth noting that the old meeting notes in legacy editor are text only - they don't have any macros.

Hello Mallee,
Thank you for providing that example. It helps a lot! From what I can see, you want to add an action item to a list. Unfortunately, this is not possible, but we have an open feature request:
I hope that helps clarify things for you, but let me know if there's anything else you were having trouble with.
Take care,
Shannon
