Using Automation with a rule to trigger an email can you direct to different mailboxes?

Is it possible when using a template to add in a condition that if one option is selected on the template the email goes to one mailbox and if the other option is selected it goes to another mailbox? At the moment I just have a rule set up to go to 2 email mailboxes regardless of content).

Any help appreciated! 😊

Hi Leanne, welcome to the community!

Yes, that’s definitely possible, but instead of sending the notification to all addresses, you’ll want to add a Condition in your rule before the “Send email” action.

A common pattern is to:

  1. Use a Branch / If block to check the value of the field or template option that the user selected.
  2. Inside each branch, add a “Send email” action targeted to the specific mailbox you want for that scenario.

So for example:

  • IF {{smart value here}} equals Option A → send to mailbox1@…
  • ELSE IF equals Option B → send to mailbox2@…

This way you only send to the relevant address depending on what’s been selected on the template rather than both every time.

Can you elaborate a bit more on 'when using a template'? Can you maybe share some screenshots of your automation rule (redacted where needed) so we can figure out what you're trying to accomplish and what the best course of action would be? :)
