Want to be able to label sections of text within a document

I'm trying to create a bid library using confluence and want to search past bids using labels that align with common questions/responses. Since some bids are 100 pages and have many sections, simply labeling the page will still require searching within the Confluence doc. Can I add a label to a bookmarked section?

We're creating some evergreen content that will be labeled, but I don't want the admin burden to chunk up bid docs if they are only for additional reference, nor do I want users to have to control-f or endless scroll to find the bits in a bid that relate to a specific topic.

Is there a solution for this?

Hi there,

As this question mentions our Table Filter and Charts for Confluence app, we are happy to introduce its new macro – Table Spreadsheet.

The macro allows you to work with fully functional Excel spreadsheets right in Confluence.

You’ll be able to use cells’ formulas, filters, conditional formatting, etc., create pivot tables and charts from the page view and edit mode.

The Table Spreadsheet macro is available for Cloud and Server/Data Center.

Hi @arinblack !

One option to consider is using the Page Properties + Page Properties Report macros.

If you wrap the content you want to aggregate in a Page Properties macro, you can use the Page Properties Report to get that content using the page's label.

Welcom to the community @arinblack , sometimes with Confluence, you need to think about your content orthoganaly. If you have evergreen content on your pages, I assume you mean that it is common language shared by multiple bids? To make that content easer to review, you could place it in seperate pages (or excerpts on one page, depending on length), and then just link to those pages, excerpts as needed. All the content would stay in sync and be in one place.

Since you are on the Cloud verion, your other options are limited. The best you might be able to do is create an inline comment on the pages so that people would just look at the open comments. Not exactly what you want but maybe gets you part way there?

We will have the type of content you describe, but this is more about search. Within a 100 page bid, there may be two paragraphs about a particular functionality. I want to make it as easy as possible for users to open up that doc and find those two paragraphs - however, I also want users to be able to search on a label an find all the instances where like content appears - I can label a whole doc with something like "DevOps process" but that document might only have those two graphs where another might be almost exclusively dedicated to that topic.

There is a paid multiexcerpt macro that lets you find where the include is used from the source instance.

But I think your only option is to have some sort of standard set of headings and then search for those headings, basically use headings as your labels,

We can also suggest our Table Excerpt/Table Excerpt Include macros that are provided by our Table Filter and Charts for Confluence app.

These macros allow you to collect paragraphs and multiple-row tables along with showing page metadata:

- page
- parent page
- space
- labels
- excerpt
- author
- last modifier
- created
- updated.

The Excerpts may be collected from the specific pages, page and child pages, page and all descendants, pages with labels.

Maybe this helps your case.
