response.varfile is missing in existing confluence installation

Suyash Jain {Appfire} June 13, 2018 edited

Hi,

I am trying to automate the installation of Confluence based on installed Confluence configuration.  As per unattended installation procedure (https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/unattended-installation-838416261.html), the file response.varfile must exist at <installation-directory>/.install4j/response.varfile but I have search server as well as many other installed Confluence directories but could not find this file.

Am I missing something?. Do I first need to create this file by following certain procedure or this file is created automatically after every installation?

I've installed Confluence via the tar not the bin. Is this why I can't find the response.var file? Is it only available when installing via the bin file?, if yes than how can I get a sample file that works for linux?

Hi Suyash,

According to the article, if you installed Confluence previously using the Windows or Linux installer (.exe or .bin), then it should be in that directory. You're supposed to copy it from there into your new installation. I do not believe using .tar.gz would generate the same file.

I hope this helps!

Shannon
