Introducing reports for Assets in Jira Service Management

38 comments

Evan Zafir April 15, 2024

@Malene Vikkelsø

I created a support ticket regarding this, and support came back and said that because my customer's environment is HIPAA-tagged, the Report feature is disabled.

The feature request can be voted on here: [JSDCLOUD-13921] HIPAA Compliance for Assets Reports - Create and track feature requests for Atlassian products.

@Rishabh Bansal

It's a bit upsetting that this wasn't described upfront before going down this path of Asset management with Jira, and it will be a non-starter for many organizations. Furthermore, I've spent so much time figuring out how to use Asset Management and reviewing the poor documentation, just to come to this roadblock, which is disappointing. I would HIGHLY suggest including in the documentation that reporting is not available for HIPAA-tagged customers. Furthermore, I recommend getting this product certified since PHI would not be stored in it.

@Malene Vikkelsø Please reach out to the support team if you or your clients are not able to see Asset Reports.

@Evan Zafir, We understand your concern and have expedited efforts to make the new Asset Reports HIPAA compliant.

We'll soon update our documentation to cover the fact that Asset Reporting is currently unavailable for HIPAA-tagged customers.

Rest assured, our team is prioritising this work, and you will soon hear an update from us.

@Miriam_Fernandezaccordingly to the article and @Rishabh Bansal comments, it should be rolled out for all instances, except for instances under the exceptions

  1. HIPAA-tagged,
  2. on a evaluation license,
  3. located in Switzerland datacenter
  4. being a bundled customer

So there appears to be more exceptions than the ones listed in this article.

I am not sure what being a bundled customer means, but I can provide an update as soon as I hear back from Atlassian Support. Being a bundled customer refers to which (release) track your product is on /how often releases are deployed to your product. You can find your release track in Atlassian Admin, under Products > Release tracks.

Accordingly to Atlassian Support currently Asset Reports "has not yet been rolled out for the customers on bundled release due to technical challenges, and the product team is actively working on it to make sure it is rolled out for bundled release customers as well. However, We don't have any tentative deadlines that can be shared yet."

An ETA on when will we be able to save reports? I noticed in the slide deck from the Team '24 session on ADM that there was the ability to Save Reports.

Tried the Reporting, but I have more frustration than interest.

From the Screenshot,
There is no Attributes that I can pick from.
And nothing showing in the report.

According to the post from @Bill Goetz even if no Attribute was selected, it should still shows something.

Am I missing something?
Anyone can help?

Thanks a lot,

When will this be available for HIPAA tagged customers?

Only our admins are accessing this tool. And we are not storing confidential information in our assets. This should not be a problem

Evan Zafir March 13, 2025

@Harold Price I actually just asked this in a Jira Support ticket this week. Despite @Rishabh Bansal claiming that this would be be coming soon, what I was told by support is that it's not. This was the response from Atlassian Support I received a few days ago:

Hello Evan,

Thank you so much for your patience while we carefully reviewed your case. We truly appreciate your understanding.

Our product team has confirmed that, at the moment, the Asset reports available in our product isn't HIPAA compliant, so this functionality is not available for instances that have Jira Service Management tagged under HIPAA. Currently, we don’t have an estimated timeline for when this feature might be available, as it is not included in our roadmap for now.

I'm really sorry for the bad news here, Evan! I wish there was more I could do on my side to provide a resolution for you at this time.
