Does Jira Service Desk allow you to assign a user to a group automatically? I want to have the person who submitted the ticket be automatically added to a group based upon their email domain.
IE: john.smith@xyz.com submits a ticket for the first time. I want them to be automatically added to Group 'XYZ Company'.
I can assign the group to the 'Organization field of the ticket, but dont see how I can assign the user to the Organization/group.

There is a brand new feature in Jira Service Management that allows you to automatically add customers to an organization based on their email domain. Provided this feature is already rolled out to your instance, you can access it by clicking on "Customers", then choose your organization, click on the three dots at the top right and select "Manage email domains":
