As part of our proactive problem management process, we link re-occurring incidents together. This helps us understand the breadth, timeline and scale of the incident before analysis and correction.
We've encountered a reoccurring incident (over 140 of them) And need to find a way to bulk link them to the master ticket without doing them individually, (as per our problem management process) which would take ages and be a waste of opportunity.
Is there a way to bulk-link multiple issues to one issue? I've searched the 'bulk change' issue options but have come up short as I can only see the following options:
'Change Linked assets'
'Change Parent Link'
'Change Epic Link'
But when pasting the link of the master ticked into those fields, it's not accepted.
I imagine I'm doing something incorrectly. Please can anyone point me in the right direction?
Regards,
Sam
Bulk change cannot update linked issues, but you could do this using automation. I would use a scheduled one and set the JQL to select the incidents that you want to link and then run the automation manually. The rule would look something like this:
Thanks for this, Mikael. This is super helpful. I will carve out some time today to try this and let you know the outcome.

Thanks again Mikael, (Apoloiges for spm)
I'm enjoying learning about Jira automation to streamline our processes and that you are sharing with those with less technically savvy, like myself. :)
I've been proactively addressing trending incidents within our ITSM project. And by implementing this automation, I can gain insights into the size and scale of problems before running retrospectives to identify root causes and potential workarounds.
Super handy!

An awesome contribution, Thanks Hannes, I need to digest and have a play with the automation first, and then will come back to this. Will let you know.
