Can't receive e-mail requests because Components is a required field?

Hi everyone, so we're trying to make component a required field for when users submit a ticket via the portal. We were able to turn it on as a required field, but it looks like that had the unintended effect of also making it a required field on e-mail requests. Now email requests don't work because the components field is never recognized. We also can't remove the requirement. The option to change it from a "Yes" to a "No" in the required column is greyed out. One of my admins gets an error that it's required by a linked issue type. Anyone know how to fix it?

What you can do is hiding component field with predefined value on request type connected to email requests.

Just click "Hide" next to the field on request type form then you will be asked to select a value.

Robert, thanks. I ended up doing that and using our most commonly selected component. Our Jira admin was able to undo it somehow as well.
