Can you merge two tickets within JSM? We often get follow-up tickets to the original issue that comes as a new request. Rather than linking the two we prefer to merge them similar to how Zendesk has the ability to.

Atlassian recommendation is to use the linking feature with appropriate description. I would use "re-open from" for example.
