Hi Candy,

In your Workflow transitions you can controll if the transition resolves the issue or not 

Transition characteristics which resolves an issue:

Transition characteristics which clears the resolution:

You can find and edit the characteristics of an transition in the workflow -> Jira Settings -> Issues -> Workflows -> Chose the workflow you want to edit -> choose the transition you want to edit (in your case Cancel) -> edit the characteristics
