Hi,
I have a template project to create a new project using the shared configuration of a template project.
To avoid setting the administrators user roles each time we create a new project we use the 'Administrators' filled with a additional created Jira internal group 'Project Administrators' as default within the project.
Creating a new project will remove the role 'Administrators' each time.
We also have the role 'Viewers' set with two Active Directory groups. This role and the assigned group are kept using the shared configuration.
How can we keep the predefined roles creating new projects using templates?
Thank you in advance
Tim
Just to clarify some "Jira speak": A role in Jira is a global thing that goes across every project. Here, roles are not being removed from projects.
I think what you mean (again in "Jira speak") is that some (project) roles are not being populated with groups and/or users when you create new projects.
This happens because the roles do not have defaults set. Go to Admin -> System -> Project Roles and check out "manage default users" for 'viewers' - you'll find a couple of groups are set up in there. Then check out "manage default users" for 'administrators' - I suspect you'll find nothing listed. Adding 'project administrators' to that should fix the problem!
technically this seems to be the reason that this global role could not be populated creating a new project from a shared configuration.
After adding the group to the system wide role as a default member it works as expected.
Thank you.
