Customer Invited Notifications

We currently run a couple of separate Jira Service Management portals as client support desks and are in the process of consolidating into a single support desk that they all feed in to. We also have them set up so that only customers added by us can email in and use the portal, so we need to migrate all the current users over to the new portal and let them know that the URL has changed

 

One thing I was testing was changing the default customer intivation notification text to something that notifies them that we've made a change and this is the new URL, however when I tested this with my gmail account which I've previously used for testing support desks, it never sent out an invitation. Is this because I've previosly used the same address and have an Atlassian account under that address? I would have expected it to send a new invitation regardless because this is a new project
