During a scan can assets discovery pickup a cloud database during the analysis?

Hello @Cami

I think it depends on what pattern you have set up.  It's probably a custom pattern depending on how you connect to the database.

Thanks for the reply. Are you able to elaborate a little further? Perhaps give me a rough example.

OK, so when you set up a scan, you need to establish what patterns to use to discover devices.  Out of the box pattern groups are the following:

    1. Windows - patterns specific to Microsoft Windows devices.

    2. Linux - patterns specific to Linux and similar distributions.

    3. MacOS - patterns specific to MacOS.

    4. SNMP - patterns specific to Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) devices.

    5. ESXi - patterns from VMware ESXi, an enterprise-class, type-1 hypervisor.

    6. IBM - patterns from IBM.

    7. Solaris - patterns from Solaris.

    8. Custom - custom patterns. This pattern-group is empty by default.

These pattern groups assume a direct connection with the asset to discover.  If you connect to your cloud database through https, Asset discovery may not work.

Creating your own custom pattern is here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/create-a-custom-pattern/

If you're talking about a DB-as a service, you may not be able to scan it into Discovery.
