Within my help desk project, I have the default project email address configured and when a request is emailed in, the email address of the sender is captured in the Reporter field. That person does not need to be a user in Jira.
I also have an API from our software platform using a single user configured in Jira.
I am unable to update the Reporter field with the actual sender's email address. I know there are some utilities to assign automatically, and I will be investigating that down the line, but right now I should have the ability to modify that field. It worked in testing with an external email address. But on the tickets that come in from the API with the configured user, I cannot change the Reporter field to anyone but users who have Jira logins.
I need to be able to change the Reporter so that when I add comments for the client and close tickets that they get the communication.
Any advice?
I have this exact same issue. Hopefully someone answers
