How does JSD Customer Portal Authenticate?

Where is the setting for how the customer portal for JIRA Service Desk authenticates?  We have a custom authenticator for JIRA in seraph-config, but JSD ignores seraph and authenticates on it's own somehow.  Is there a way to make JIRA and JSD use our custom seraph authenticator?  The customers for JIRA and JSD are the same, there's no reason to have two authenticators.  If we log in to JIRA and then open a new tab with the customer portal they are authimatically logged in (which is our current work around), but if someone is NOT logged into JIRA and browses straight to the customer portal they can't log in.  Is there a way to redirect the login link on the Customer Portal with the same link in JIRA?  Or something like that?

We are using JIRA Software 7.2.10 and JIRA SD 3.2.10

We are having the same problem. Did you find a solution for this already?
