I'm looking at this article here about Insight roles and permissions. Whatever permissions are there, does it mean they are able to do in bulk? (i.e. if the insight developer can edit objects, does it mean they can bulk edit them?) or the managers can delete objects, so does this mean they can bulk delete?

it also says the users role can Report Jira issues on Insight objects, does this mean that to use an insight field in the portal, they need that role?
Glad to assist you again. Insight role/permission setup is different then JSM permission and role setup.
For Insight -
If a user is part of Insight Developers role - he/she can only edit and create objects. They will not be able to conduct bulk updates + delete objects. Only Insight schema managers role members can conduct bulk updates and delete objects.
In regards to users who can report Jira/JSM issues on Insight objects (meaning you have already configured custom fields sourced from your Insight schema + associated them to your Jira/JSM issues field/screen/request type screen), those users must have the Insight schema's Users role to access the information from the Insight schema objects.
