Jira not recognizing non-existing emails

Zofia.Kubik August 30, 2019

Hello,

My team has noticed a couple of tickets submitted by users who put a wrong (non-existing) email as contact.

When we send an email (not from Jira) to that address, there's an 'undeliverable' message coming back, but Jira doesn't recognize that the email is invalid, so we had tickets sitting in out backlog and agents chasing non-existing users.

Is there anything we can do about it?

Thanks!

Hi Zofia,

Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!
When someone created a ticket using an incorrect or fake email, Jira will just send the email and there is no log to show if it was delivered or not.
We can pretty much add any email as customer or user in Jira, because it won't check if it's real or not.
We have a feature request suggesting the implementation of the ability to track emails that failed to be delivered:
Please, click on vote and watch to receive updates about the feature.

Regards,
Angélica
