Narrowing target domain for AD adapter in Assets Data Manager

Lindsay Bolan January 22, 2025

Has anyone tried or had success using a specific OU when setting the "Target domains" for the Active Directory adapter?

Example: ad.domain.edu/orgUnits/MyDivision

I don't want or need to pull the hundreds of thousands of computer objects from the entire domain, and it's also very unlikely I would be granted access to do so. I have administrative credentials to our AD environment, but I am limited to an OU set up specifically for my division as in the example above.

I will try this and report back, but I thought it might be worth attempting to save myself time by asking first, since the ADM documentation is overall frustratingly sparse.

Hello @Lindsay Bolan

You can narrow the target domain by specifying the Organizational Unit (OU) directly in the "Target domains" configuration, such as ad.domain.edu/orgUnits/MyDivision.

This should restrict the import to the specific OU.

P.S. Ensure your credentials have the necessary permissions for this configuration.
