Hello,
I cannot seem to add a 'ReOpened' status to my projects' workflow.
I keep getting a message that it is already in use as an 'In Progress' status.
I cannot locate the status among any of the workflows within the project.
from what view are you trying to add the Status?
My guess is, that you are trying to add a new status but a status with that name already exists on your Site. If you are using a company managed project then Status names need to be distinct. You can however add the existing status to your Workflow in the Workflow-Editor.
To supplement what @Rebekka Heilmann _viadee_ suggested, you can access the following UI - Clog wheel "Settings" at the site level >> Issues >> In the "Issue Attributes" option >> select the "Statuses" option to see all the statuses in your system (NOTE - this will not contain any custom statuses that was associated with Team Managed typed JSM projects)
You can add new statuses by edit your workflow, but to keep in mind that always determine the needs of a new status and how it is for + what is the usability of the new statuses. Typically, the fewer statuses the better for system management process. In the case off adding a new status of "ReOpened", why don't you just create a transition to the existing "Open" status and named the transition "Reopened" instead of having a new status.
Hope this also helps.

Hi Joseph,
I was wondering if there was any documentation on Jira workflows (statuses/transitions) best practices.
Thanks in advance.
