Hi Team,
I am planning for ACP-400 certification and hence intend to purchase preparation material for ACP-400 certification. However, I have some questions.
As I understand, there is considerable overlap in coverage with the Jira Administration Certification Prep (ACP-100) and, the common Jira Administration topics are covered in ACP-400 somewhat in less depth.
The concerns are:
1) Do I have to purchase ACP-100 certification preparation material as well?
2) If I am purchasing ACP-400 certification preparation material only, will I be missing on anything that is overlapping but not covered in ACP-400. e.g. overlapping sample questions, in-depth training of overlapping topics, etc.

Anwarali Hajwane
Hi Anwarali,
to directly answer your questions:
1) You don't have to purchase the ACP-100 materials as well when planning to only take the ACP-400 exam.
2) You won't be missing anything. The prep material was designed to support you in preparing for the ACP-400 exam and succeeding of course! ;) Everything will be covered.
Speaking as someone being involved in working on the Atlassian certifications (and passing ACP-400 last Thursday) be aware that both certifications have been designed with very different test takers in mind (easy to notice when comparing the exam audiences on the Atlassian University website). As you said, there is an overlap (also compare the exam topics of both certifications) because it's a Jira product, but no administrator solely dealing with Jira Software (ACP-100) will be proficient in SLA in general and reporting on SLAs, customer portals and knowledge bases, Service Desk permissions, request types and so one, which is a clear focus in the ACP-400 exam.
The understanding of Jira Software, on the other hand, is still crucial for Jira Service Desk administrators but doesn't have to be as deep as it is for ACP-100 test takers (again, compare the audience, 1-2 years of experience administering JSD vs. 2-3 years of experience administering Jira). So just purchase the ACP-400 materials and you will be fine. :) Best, Max
Hi Max,

Hi Anwarali,
I am ACP-100 and ACP-600 certified and currently preparing for ACP-400. The practice exam questions from the ACP-400 indeed have significant overlap with ACP-100, but less depth.
If you are ACP-100 certified or if you have significant jira administrator experience, I would say there is no specific need to also buy the ACP-100 material.
I would advise to go through the exam topics of the ACP-100 exam and ask yourself for each topic if you know where to find the configuration and whether you know the impact of making changes to the configuration. If you can do it for most, then you will probably have enough JIRA experience for ACP-400.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Wouter

Hi @Anwarali Hajwane ,
How was your ACP-400 exam? How did you prepare for this exam? Please advise.
Thank you

let me jump here for the time being as I took this exam back in August. Have you taken any other exam so far? Maybe Jira Project Administration or Jira Administration? Have you read the exam topics available on the ACP-400 page under the point "exam details"? Following the provided topics and gathering all information regarding them is a first and good step to prepare for the actual exam. If you want more information about what to expect and in which direction to think, maybe have a look at the available cert prep course on Atlassian University. After that, I'd recommend finding a colleague or multiple colleagues to learn and practice. You can study on your own as well but the more, the merrier :)
If you have further questions feel free to ask them in this thread.
Best, Max

Hi @Max Foerster - K15t ,
Thanks for writing your feedback. Appreciate it.
I have taken ACP-600 in January this year and now preparing for ACP-400. If you look at course content available it is not the same as detailed as ACP-600.
I read through the topics already and now planning to read the topics related to content online and then practice the same using any demo instance. Hope it will work.
Let me know if you have any other suggestion.
Thank you

Unfortunately, I haven't got a chance yet to attempt for ACP-400, as other priority items have come up.
As far as I can tell, understanding and researching around the exam topics would be required. Apart from that, official preparation material (that will have to be purchased) should be of great help to understand the detailed coverage of the topics involved and what to expect from the the exam. No doubt, we have to research and practice around the topics, in order to understand more details of each topic.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
Regards,
Anwar

@Muhammad Fahad your approach sounds good! And yes, the exam topics for ACP-600 go into much more detail, but having the target audience in mind an experienced Jira administrator should be able to derive all topics or areas to touch in JSD from what is given in the document. Just work your way through the documentation and tool. Good luck with the exam. Join the ACP club! ;)

I passed the exam this afternoon. It was a tough exam to prepare for though. I used the certification prep course but a lot of it just mentions topics you should understand rather than giving you examples of what you need to know. I’m very pleased to have it done and dusted. Good luck to anyone giving it a go.

Hi Priyanka,
reading through the older posts in this thread should provide the guidance you need to start preparing for the exam. So start with going through the exam topics that are available here. Start preparing them by studying the documentation and working in a Service Desk project. If you think you need some more advice on how to prepare, maybe purchase the exam prep course for the certification. Are there any other open questions you have at this point? We're happy to answer them. :)
Best, Max
