We have some long SLA which really don't make sense in Hours. Is there a simple way to change the SLA to display in days?

You can do this using Time to SLA.
It has a formatting option under Time to SLA > Settings and you can choose the format you want.
Time to SLA also has detailed SLA reporting, a dashboard gadget, and the ability to configure flexible SLAs.

When using Jira Service Management Cloud, currently SLAs can be only shown in hours.
There is a feature request suggesting improvements for that:
