How format automation so mediumDate is DD MMM, YYYY

Is there a way to get an automation where you put {{now.mediumDate}}  to be day first? rather than MMM DD, YYYY

Yes, that is possible if you use format("<pattern>") e.g. format("dd/MM/yyyy"). You can learn more of what you can do with date and time smart values in this KB.
