I'm setting up Assets for the first time, and attempting to use an object schema using the IT Hardware Asset Management Template, and the discovery tool to pull in assets from my network.
The discovery tool side of it is fine - I am able to scan the ranges I want and export via file or direct upload to JSM Cloud. However... when the assets are imported into my schema, they all appear as generic hosts under Network Assets > Hosts, and not under the correct categories for Servers, Laptops, Mobiles etc.
Surely this product is not so limited that I can only correctly categorise assets in an out of the box template when I manually add them?
Hi @cjenkins
Unfortunately, I don't think there is nay correlation between the Template Schema and what you get in the Assets Discovery tool.
You can try running separate discovery imports to put them into the individual objects from the template schema. In other words, get the Servers only on the Assets Discovery and import them into the Server object. Then get the Laptops and put them into the Laptops Objects. This would be painful and time consuming.
