Can anyone tell me if it is possible to copy or move an existing project from the main environment to the Sandbox instance (test environment)?

Hi,

You can copy the entire production data to sandbox, however certain data are not copied.
You can find more details here: https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/manage-product-sandboxes/

But if you are looking for option to just copy one particular project from production env to sandbox, Atlassian cloud does not offer that option.

I'm Luka from codefortynine and if you don't mind using a third-party app our Deep Clone for Jira app can clone your issues from your main instance to your sandbox instance.

You need to create the target project manually in your sandbox first, but then it is pretty easy to clone your issue data with our Instance Clone feature.
