HI
As of now we are going to include our employee email ids as customer in Jira service desk (Cloud), but in future we will try to sync up with our active directory in jira service desk as customers, during that time what will happen to the existing user ids in the Jira serice desk (Customers) will it be auto sync with our active directory contacts? Or will it be created as duplicate entries? Kindly revert accordingly we could proceed for our solution
Thanks
Satish
Hi Satish,
My guess is that the users with an AD entry and a Jira account will be managed by the user management tool you choose and the external customers will not be affected. I imagine you will integrate your AD with Access which requires a domain verification (which determines which users are actually your employees). Any customer/user will still be able to access the site but will not be managed by the AD or the organisation.
Should you find any more robust info on this please let me know, this is a good question.
HI Zoi,
Thank you for your reply. My query here is that I am going to import my employee database (AD) as customer not as agent in JSD cloud. Is there an option available for that?

My experience with external ADs is limited to Azure AD. There you could specify which permissions and in which groups your groups were assigned to.
In other words, the list of Jira users is synced to Azure and any changes in users' and groups' product access and permissions was done in the Azure's side.
Ultimately, you will need to review your AD's integration with Jira.
Jira Cloud does allow for users to be added as customers (and not consume a license), so yes you can specify the product access and import them as such. The process of setting this up depends on the AD you will be using.
Hope it helps.
