I've tried to add the "sprint" field to a request type in Jira Servicedesk, but when I do, I get the following notification: "This field type cannot be shown - you must provide a preset value" and the field is automatically added to the Hidden fields with preset value. After choosing a preset value, this value is still not shown in the customer portal.
My question is why do I have to chose a preset value for this field (preferably this field will just show the value that I've given to this request type in Jira Cloud and if there isn't added a sprint to the issue yet, this field will appear empty) and moreover, why does this field still not appear in the customer portal?
Hopefully someone can help me out! :)
Hi Milou,
Sprints are visible only for licensed Jira Software users, and it's possible to see information about sprints only internally.
That's why the field is hidden in the portal, because customers don't have a license and also the portal does not support Jira SW fields, because it's restricted for internal users.

Angélica
Hi Angelica,
Thanks for your answer! And that's too bad :( Would be very valuable information for our customers to see. But at least I can stop trying to figuring out why it didn't work now. :)

Hi Angelica,
the add-on "Ultimate Theming for Jira Service Desk" (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1216144/ultimate-theming-for-jira-service-desk?hosting=server&tab=versions)
can show the Sprint and the Epic Link in the customer portal.
So it's possible to show Sprint and Epic field to the customer even he is not in the Jira Software User group (in fact he is in no group as he is a customer of the project). I tried this with a user who is in the customer section of my service desk.

Really, for every single lack of functionality that should come with Jira by default, there's someone popping in to say: "oh, this plugin does that for you...".
Really, do you realize that my company would have to function and profit just to pay for Jira plugins at this point? Geezzzz...
You guys need to wake up!
