help: how to copy a field value from a parent issue to a linked issue

Can someone help me with the necessary script to solve the following using scriptrunner: I need that when an issue is linked to a parent issue the linked issue takes the value of the request type that was defined in the parent issue.

For example if in the parent issue I defined “testing” in reques type I want that when linking an issue the request type of the linked issue is also “testing”.

Can this be done? would it be with postfunction or listener?

I have tried many syntaxes and nothing works, can you help me? The project is JSM Cloud.

I understand, if by automations if I can do it but the specific client requests that all kind of automations in his project be done only with scriptrunner. It is impossible to use automations in that project unfortunately because we do not have the permissions to do so.

Hi @Angel Salazar ,

I've did a bit of digging and setting the request type is still not super straightforward through REST (which is what Script Runner Cloud would be using).
I second @Gary Spross's suggestion and would simply use Automations as it works 100% and is way easier to build and maintain.

I don't have ScriptRunner, but I could propose a solution using automation directly within Jira. Let me know if that's an option you would consider.
