Repetitive Projects - Advice

Hello,

We are using Jira Service Desk with 4  main projects. Each project covers certain department tickets (IT, Finance, HR, ect). Is there a way to create a project template that assigns issues and subtasks automatically to IT, Finance, HR) instead of creating these issues manually every time?

Example - New Office Project

-  IT issue with subtask such as (create email, accounts, PCs, printers)

- Marketing issue with subtasks (banner, website, etc)

- HR issue with subtasks (Portal, pay access, background check, etc).

Thank you!

Hi @baraaabbas

I think you should look at issue template

What you want to do is that for an "new office project request" you would generate 3 different issues (IT, Marketing and HR) and their subtasks, am I right?

Hi @baraaabbas

Have you tried Automation for Jira? It is a free plugin, and apparently will be part of Jira Service Desk cloud later on this year.

You could create a number of bespoke issue types such as IT, Finance, HR, etc, each with their own Request Types on the Customer Portal.

Then using the Automation tool do the following:

  1. When issue created
  2. If Issue Type = IT then
  3. New Action: Create Issue in IT Project using the same Issue Type or New Issue Type (Define it). Specify the Summary and the Description and fill in any extra fields you might have.
  4. ELSE if Issue Type = HR then
  5. New Action: Create Issue in HR Project using a different issue type or new issue type, specify your fields etc.

This is a very simple solution as the Automation tool is very intuitive.

Here is an example screen showing what I did in less than 3 minutes:

Note: This version of Automation for Jira LITE is free, but there is a limit of 300 rule executions a month. There is also a paid version, but a great tool to trial before you motivate the big boss that this is a must have plugin for your cause.
