Updating objects by CSV import

I want to periodically update Insight objects from a CSV and the only option is to remove and recreate the objects that have changed as "missing objects".  Is there any way to update only the attributes values that have changed without losing the audit history of the object? 

This was possible in Mindville's Insight for Jira Cloud using a key column.

Id love to see an answer on this as this is something that I use in the Mindville insight.
