AD groups made into Atlassian Access default groups

I'm wondering if it is possible to make my OKTA synced/pushed Active Directory groups "Default" groups for a product.

I have a JIRA Users group in my Active Directory that is synced to Atlassian Access. I would like to have that group be the "Default" Users group in our JIRA instance, but when I try to set this option I receive a very non descript error message...

"Something went wrong

There was a problem updating the default group setting. Please try again in a few minutes."

This has been going on for days so I assume that what I'm trying is not going to work so I am looking for confirmation of that fact or some actual good news like it can be done.

Default product access groups are explained here:

https://support.atlassian.com/user-management/docs/default-groups-and-permissions/

The specified group must be writable so that users can be added to by the Atlassian Cloud system.

Groups added to Atlassian Access by an Okta synch/push are not writable by Atlassian Cloud.
