Hi, I am wondering if this could be a recently introduced bug in Jira. I have searched this forum and the logged issues list without finding a match. I am on a free Jira plan so cannot submit a support ticket.
In the Backlog view, there is a Search box in the top left. Quite often, but not always, after I filter the backlog using this box, I cannot select any matched issues: clicking on them has no effect. The issue under my mouse pointer still highlights and double clicking doesn't work either. I can't even select any of the text in the list.
I can sometimes reproduce the same problem using the filters for Type, Label, etc also - it is not just the Search box.
Only by refreshing the page can I select issues again, or by visiting another page such as Summary or Board and returning to Backlog. Clearing or editing the search box sometimes re-enables selection but sometimes not.
If I have an issue selected before I filter the backlog, that issue remains editable in the right hand panel. It is only the list of issues that becomes non-interactive, though I can still scroll through the list, if it is long enough.
I have disabled all extensions in Chrome, and I have reproduced the problem using Edge. Both Chrome and Edge are updated automatically. Nothing is output to the dev tools console when issue selection fails.
This has been happening to me for a few weeks now. Anybody else?
Hi Nick Christie,
Thank you for the detailed description of the issue with the Backlog view in Jira Cloud. The issue occurs intermittently after using the Search box or filters in the Backlog.
Based on this, the issue appears to be specific to your system. Could you kindly try the following troubleshooting steps to see if it helps resolve the issue.
Thanks,
Rajashree
I did try clearing the cache but I also received an update to Chrome, and one of those, or an independent update to Jira, appears to have resolved the problem. At least I cannot reproduce it now, though it was somewhat intermittent. Hopefully that's the end of it.
Thanks,
Nick
