Hi,
We are using the Goals platform experience to group our planned initiatives by Goals in Jira Plans. This is a really useful feature however it's difficult to use as it doesn't seem possible to filter a plan based on just the goals you want to see e.g. if a work item has more than one goal it forces all of them to display in the grouping, so ignoring the filter. Also it doesn't seem possible to exclude archived issues from the plan view goal field which makes it a bit messy. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hi @David Williams ,

Yeah, that's true. Seems like the system looks at filtered goals, then finds all items with that goal, but if the item has more than one goal, this other goal will be represented as well.
I've tried checking JAC for open features/bugs, but nothing relevant came up.
I'd suggest discussing this with Support team and they can probably create new suggestion based on your requirement.
As for the second part about archived goals, technically the filter does show what's the status of each goal
but maybe it would be nice if when selecting the grouping method, for Goals (and some other items), you would have an option/selection to include or exclude archived items 👀
This would also probably be another feature request.
If they do create new suggestions, please do share those here.
Cheers,
Tobi
Hi Tobi,
Thank you for the feedback. I think the filtering in plans has a few bugs, for example the date filtering doesn't really work as expected when trying to filter on a date range, which makes creating quarterly views difficult using just dates alone, we have used a custom field for quarterly planning cycles previously.
I know that there are updates coming on the goals experience too.
Thanks
David
